Why your LinkedIn profile picture is so important?

For the last year, I heard so often the question: “Can we make a picture for my LinkedIn profile?” and normally I should not have a reason to be surprised, but when I heard the same thing from every second customer of mine, I started questioning myself: Why this LinkedIn profile picture is so important?

Being a very curious person, I started to search for more information on the subject of my question. I was really surprised to find out that, based on LinkedIn research, just having a picture makes your profile 14 times more likely to be viewed by others. This tiny round photo that appears first when someone is searching for you, is a key element of your personal brand and your personal image.

We all know this cliché: „ You don’t judge a book by it’s cover” but we must admit that we live in a time when we, as human beings are so lazy to offer the necessary amount of time in order to get to know someone that we often judge a book by it’s cover or in our case a person by his/hers profile picture.

Statistic show that a LinkdeIn member with a profile picture receive far more engagement : 21 times more profile views and 9 times more connection requests. A good profile picture is sending a message about your serious intention, and about your existence as a personality on this platform, before saying a word.

A lot of employers request your LinkedIn profile instead of your CV. Now imagine the power that your new, sharp and polished profile picture can have on the first impression of your potential employer about you. Also a good profile picture may help you sending the right signals to anyone who happens across you on the platform.

About what are the key points in order to improve your profile picture or how to take a good one I will tell you in my future posts.

If you are looking for a proficient photographer who can help you with your profile picture you can definitely count on me.

Thank you for your time and for reading this.

With love and light,
Elena.
